A list of some of my favorite books from 2010. Just a few books I may have found to be particularly significant, insightful, brilliant, masterful, enjoyable, and/or notable.
(In no particular order)
Christianity: The First Three Thousand Years – by Diarmaid MacCulloch (Viking 2010)
A truly monumental and necessary book for anyone interested in the Christianity’s history.
Statement of Facts – by Vanessa Place (Blanc Press 2010)
The Instructions – by Adam Levin (McSweeneys 2010)
The Sore Throat and Other Poems – by Aaron Kunin (Fence Books 2010)
Song For His Disappeared Love / Canto a Su Amor Desaparecido– by Raul Zurita (Action Books 2010)
The Seven Beauties of Science Fiction – by Istvan Csicsery-Ronay Jr. (Wesleyan 2008)
Though I read this last year, I’ve been thinking about its concepts a lot. And really recommend it to anyone interested in science fiction theory. To read perhaps, alongside a book like Critical Theory and Science Fiction.
Dust – by Arkadii Dragomoshchchenko (Dalkey Archive 2008)
I only found out about this book a short while ago, and I have to say I haven’t enjoyed a book for its sheer langauge in a long while.
The Seasons Cemented – by Amanda Ackerman (Hex Presse 2010)
The Orange Eats Creeps – by Grace Krilanovich (Two Dollar Radio 2010)
The Minds’s Eye – by Oliver Sacks (Knopf 2010)
